Retreat of the Committee of Experts of the Peace and Security Council (PSC) of the African Union (AU) to be held from 21 to 23 November 2023 on the Preparations for the upcoming 15th Annual Retreat of the PSC on the Review of its Working Methods.

Abstract

This retreat intends to: a) Validate the Draft Terms of Reference for the PSC Sub-Committee on Sanctions; b) Validate the Draft Modalities of Engagement between the PSC and the A3 for further strengthening collaboration between the PSC and A3 to ensure the effective promotion of decisions adopted by the Council and Africa’s peace and security positions within the UNSC; c) Consider the consolidated document, which will provide guidance to the PSC in addressing issues of unconstitutional changes of government in line with provisions provided by the AU instruments; d) Assess/Evaluate the status of implementation of the activities of the PSC and the Committee of experts during the course of 2023; and e) Developing an Indicative Annual Programme of Work of the PSC and the Committee of Experts for 2024.
