The Peace and Security Council, held in Addis Ababa, on 4 August 2005, reviewed the situation in Sudan, in light of the tragic death, on 31 July 2005, of Dr John Garang de Mabior, Chairman of the SPLM/A and First Vice-President of the Republic of Sudan, in an air accident on his way back to Sudan after a successful mission to Uganda in furtherance of his heroic quest for peace not only within Sudan but also with Sudan’s neighbours.
