Abstract
The Joint Consultative Meeting between the AU Peace and Security Council (PSC) and the Pan-African Parliament (PAP), held from 17–18 July 2025 in Midrand, South Africa, focused on strengthening collaboration to enhance peace, security, and governance in Africa. Co-chaired by H.E. Chief Fortune Charumbira and H.E. Ambassador Rebecca Amuge Otengo, the meeting addressed challenges including violent conflict, youth exclusion, terrorism, and unconstitutional changes of government. Emphasis was placed on inclusive political participation, the role of youth and women, and the need for African-led solutions. Participants called for enhanced PSC-PAP synergy, regularized joint activities, and structured engagement. The meeting also advocated for Africa’s representation in global governance reforms, climate justice, and reparations for historical injustices. A joint roadmap for future collaboration will follow the adoption of the meeting’s conclusions by both organs.
