Induction Program for the Military Staff Committee of the Peace and Security Council of the African Union, 26 - 27 May 2025, Lagos, Nigeria.

Abstract

The AU PSC Military Staff Committee held its induction programme from 26–27 May 2025 in Lagos, Nigeria. The event introduced new members to the PSC’s mandate, methods, and rules of procedure, with thematic sessions, practical exercises, and peer learning. A highlight was the tour of the Nigerian Naval Ship, offering participants insight into Nigeria’s military capabilities. Sessions also covered conflict analysis, digital resources, and open-source research skills. The programme fostered collaboration among members and partners, notably the Institute for Security Studies, and concluded with practical recommendations to strengthen the Committee’s support role to the PSC.
