Provisional Programme of Work of the Peace and Security Council of the African Union for the Month of January 2025 Under the Chairship of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire.

Abstract

The African Union Peace and Security Council (PSC) will implement a comprehensive agenda for January 2025 under Côte d’Ivoire's chairship. The program will start with the AU Commission's report on the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) and mandate renewal. The Committee of Experts (CoE) will evaluate reports on the PSC's activities, the state of peace and security in Africa, and progress in implementing the AU Master Roadmap to Silencing the Guns in Africa. Strengthening collaboration with Regional Economic Communities (RECs) and Regional Mechanisms (RMs) to address conflicts and emerging security threats will also be a priority. The PSC will hold an emergency meeting at Ministerial level on the Situation in the DRC and assess the half-year report on elections in Africa with projections for 2025. Operationalization of the African Standby Force (ASF) will be examined. The month will conclude with the third Africa Day of Peace and Reconciliation
