Abstract
The African Union Peace and Security Council's provisional programme for August 2024, under Botswana's chairship, will continue commemorating its 20th anniversary with a series of significant activities. Highlights include a virtual session on constitutionalism, democracy, and governance, and an in-person brainstorming session on the African Standby Force. Updates on the situations in Sudan and Somalia, consultations between the PSC, AU Panel of the Wise, and RECs/RMs Panel of Elders, and an open session on inclusive education in conflict situations are also scheduled. The Committee of Experts will prepare for annual joint consultative meetings with the UNSC and SADC. The Military Staff Committee will discuss the African Standby Force, while the PSC Sub-committee on Sanctions will focus on capacity building and present their inaugural meeting report.
