Abstract

The African Union's Peace and Security Council (PSC) Programme of Work for March 2025, under Morocco’s chairship, outlines key meetings addressing continental security concerns. Discussions include climate change’s impact on peace and security, deradicalization strategies, women’s roles in peacebuilding, and artificial intelligence’s influence on governance. Sessions will also review the peacebuilding architecture and PSC induction. Country-specific issues like Sudan, South Sudan, and the DRC will be examined, alongside informal consultations with Burkina Faso, Gabon, Guinea, Mali, Niger, and Sudan. Meetings will be held virtually or in person at the AU’s Old Conference Centre. The provisional April work plan will be adopted via email, and an informal exchange with the UN Security Council President is scheduled. The PSC chairs from January to March will present a briefing on their activities at the month’s end. Additionally, newly elected PSC members will undergo an induction program in Arusha, Tanzania.
