Abstract
The Peace and Security Council of the African Union (AU), at its 413th meeting held on 16 January 2014, was briefed by the Commissioner for Peace and Security on the situation in the Republic of South Sudan and the efforts of the Inter-Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD) Mediators to resolve the armed conflict that erupted in South Sudan on 15 December 2013.
