Report of the Field Mission of the Peace and Security Council to the Democratic Republic of Congo, Conducted from 20 to 23 March 2023.

Abstract

The field mission was organized as a solidarity mission to the people and Government of the DRC and to gather first-hand information regarding the political, security and humanitarian situation in the DRC, with a particular focus on the developments in the eastern parts of the country, as well as the status of implementation of the 2013 Framework Agreement and the ongoing Luanda and Nairobi Processes. Prior to this field mission, the PSC decided, amongst other things, at its 1103rd meeting held on 31 August 2022 and its 1078th meeting held on 19 April 2022, to undertake a field mission to the country following the persistent insecurity in the eastern DRC, its attendant adverse impact on the population, and the threat it poses to national and regional peace, security and stability.
