Abstract

The Africa Governance Report (AGR 2021) focuses on African Governance Futures 2063 Scenarios. This Executive Summary outlines the background and rationale for the AGR 2021 scenarios, outlining the purpose of the Africa Governance Report in terms of the expanded mandate of the APRM; the consultative and participatory approach undertaken in the development of the AGR 2021 including multiple stakeholders and diverse inputs; an overview of the four scenario stories developed, presenting baseline, best, worst and surprise case possibilities for African governance futures. Key governance drivers and critical impact factor for policy focus are identified; the policy implications and recommendations developed that address the key governance drivers and good governance critical impact factors discussed; suggested steps for the uptake and wide dissemination of the AGR 2021 and implementation of the recommendations supported by a strategic media campaign.
