Monthly Brief for the Activities of the Peace and Security Council (PSC) - January 2023

Abstract

The Republic of Uganda concluded its stand-in chairship of the Peace and Security Council (PSC) of the African Union (AU) for January 2023, on behalf of the Republic of Senegal. The meetings were chaired by H.E. Ambassador Rebecca Amuge Otengo, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Uganda to the AU. During the month, 7 meetings took place including a hybrid session on the Africa Day of Peace and Reconciliation. 4 communiques were issued and a summary record as well as adoption of 3 outcome documents of PSC activities and reports. 3 meetings were however postponed including the Consideration of the Revised/Updated PCRD Policy Framework; Joint briefing of the F15/PSC/PRC sub-committee and Board on the Peace Fund; and Consideration of the Draft Engagement Mechanism between the PSC and the A3. Furthermore, Council considered and adopted the provisional programme of work for February 2023.
