Report of the Meeting on the Operationalization of the African Union Mediation Support Unit (AU MSU) held from 6 - 8 September 2016, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The AU MSU is part of the Crisis Management and Post-Conflict Reconstruction and Development Division (CM PCRD) of the Peace and Security Department (PSD) of the African Union Commission (AUC). The Unit has been created to strengthen the mediation efforts of the African Union through the establishment of a systematic mechanism for offering the necessary technical, logistical and organizational support to the work of AU-designated mediators. The establishment of the AU MSU forms part of AUC’s efforts to enhance the effectiveness of African Peace and Security Architecture (APSA).
