Provisional Programme of Work of the Peace and Security Council of the African Union for the Month of April 2024.

Among the activities lined up during the month of April 2024 include: the flag ceremony for the incoming members of Council and briefing by the AUC Chairperson; Open session on hate crimes and fighting genocide ideology in Africa - 30th Anniversary Commemoration of the Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda; Briefing on the situation in the Lake Chad Basin MNJTF operations, RSS implementation & Climate Change impact; Briefing on preparations for the Abuja High–Level African Counter Terrorism Meeting, 22-23 April 2024, theme: “Strengthening regional cooperation and institution building to address the evolving threat of terrorism in Africa"; Unblocking the obstacles to effective Continental Early Warning System (CEWS) - Joint briefing by CISSA, ACSRT, AFRIPOL; Security situation in the Gulf of Guinea - Robust Response to combat Maritime Insecurity & Piracy; Briefing on the situation in Sudan; and lastly a field visit to Abuja – High Level meeting on counterterrorism and consultation between the AUPSC and ECOWAS Mediation and Security Council, 21 to 25 April 2024.
