The Peace and Security Council of the African Union (AU), at its 156th meeting held on 11 November 2008, was briefed on the situation in Somalia by the Special Representative of the Chairperson of the AU Commission for Somalia, the Special Representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations (UN), Ethiopia in its capacity as the current Chair of Inter-Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD), the Representative of IGAD Secretariat and the Representative of the League of Arab States.
