Provisional Programme of Work of the Peace and Security Council of the African Union for the Month of December 2024 Under the Chairship of the Republic of Djibouti.

Abstract

The AU PSC provisional work program for December 2024 will be chaired by Djibouti. During the month, 11th Annual High-Level Seminar on Peace and Security in Africa (Oran Process) to be held in Oran, Algeria will be considered. Ambassadorial meetings will review PSC decision implementation, consider the AU/UN Policy Paper on enhancing the Continental Early Warning System, assess the Country Structural Vulnerability and Resilience Assessment (CSVRA) and Mitigation Strategies (CSVMS), and provide updates on the Silencing the Guns initiative, along with adopting the January 2025 work program. A ministerial meeting will address the situation in Somalia and post-ATMIS security arrangements, while informal consultations will focus on political transitions in specific countries. The Committee of Experts (CoE) will prepare for the Somalia Ministerial Meeting and review the 2025 Annual Indicative Program.
