Abstract
The AU Peace and Security Council, at its 1276th meeting, reviewed the status of the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), reaffirming solidarity with Somalia in its pursuit of peace and stability. The Council welcomed democratization progress, condemned Al Shabaab attacks, and endorsed AUSSOM's troop and police composition involving Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Egypt, Nigeria, and others. It commended ATMIS contributors, called for orderly troop repatriation, and urged international support amidst financial constraints. The Council also endorsed outcomes of the April 2025 Entebbe Summit and emphasized the need for sustained coordination, humanitarian response, and expeditious AUSSOM deployment. The AU Commission was directed to engage the UN on implementation matters and transmit the Communiqué accordingly.
