Abstract
The Council adopted the conclusions of the 11th High-Level Seminar on Peace and Security in Africa, held in Oran, Algeria, from 1 to 2 December 2024. It commended the Government of Algeria for hosting the seminar in collaboration with the AU Commission and UNITAR. The Council applauded Mozambique, the outgoing A3 Plus Member, for its exemplary contribution during its tenure in the UN Security Council. It congratulated Somalia on its election as a Non-Permanent Member of the UN Security Council and expressed confidence in its commitment to advancing Africa’s common positions. The Council encouraged the newly configured A3 Plus—Algeria, Sierra Leone, Somalia, and Guyana—to maintain unity and momentum in amplifying Africa’s voice within the UN Security Council. It requested the AU Commission to take necessary steps for the effective implementation of the seminar's outcomes and decided to remain seized of the matter.
