Communiqué of the 1219th Meeting of the Peace and Security Council held on 28 June 2024 on Consideration and Adoption of the Report of the PSC Field Mission to South Sudan, conducted from 23 to 26 June 2024.
Abstract
The Peace and Security Council (PSC) of the African Union at its 1219th meeting on 28 June 2024, adopted the report of its recent field mission to South Sudan, highlighting the efforts of the Reconstituted Transitional Government of National Unity (RTGoNU) in advancing the implementation of the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan (R-ARCSS). The Council commended the South Sudanese leadership for their dedication to peace and reaffirmed the AU's solidarity with South Sudan's aspirations for enduring peace and stability. The Council called for enhanced support for South Sudan to address intercommunal violence and urged the lifting of international sanctions to facilitate the ongoing peace efforts.
