The AU Advisory Group on Artificial Intelligence, established following the PSC’s 1214th meeting, is tasked with assessing AI’s impact on peace, security, and governance in Africa. Comprising regional representatives, AU departments, and UN and think tank partners, the group will support AI integration in peacebuilding, democratic processes, cybersecurity, and early warning systems. It will also advise on ethical AI in military operations, misinformation mitigation, and inclusive development. The PSC Secretariat will serve as the group’s secretariat, with reporting every six months. The group’s term is four years, renewable by the AU Commission.
