The Peace and Security Council of the African Union (AU), at its 158th meeting held on 19 November 2008, was briefed by the Director-General of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), Ambassador Rogelio Pfirter, on the status of implementation of the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) and the work of the OPCW since the entry into force of the Convention in 1997.
