Communiqué of the 1241st Meeting of the Peace and Security Council held on 30 October 2024, on the Consideration of the Report of the Field Mission to Libreville, Gabon conducted from 12 to 14 September 2024.

The Council adopted the PSC Field Mission Report on Gabon, affirming AU support for Gabon’s commitment to complete its transition and restore constitutional order by August 2025, per the Transition Roadmap. The Council also urged the AU Commission to work with Gabon’s Transition Authority to offer technical and financial support, particularly in drafting a new constitution, strengthening judicial systems, and preparing for elections. Additionally, the Council requested the AU Commission Chairperson to mediate between the Transition Authority leader and the former President to facilitate a peaceful transition process.
