Abstract
The Peace and Security Council of the African Union (AU), at its 534th meeting held on 17 August 2015, was briefed by the Commission on the situation in Guinea-Bissau.
Description
The council renewed its call to the Bissau-Guinean stakeholders to uphold the higher interests of the country, and to seek through dialogue, consensus and reconciliation an early solution to the current crisis.
The Council emphasized the imperative need for the respect of the Constitution and the rule of law, as well as the absolute need for the armed and security forces to remain out of the current crisis.
